Rashard Brooks Obituary, Death – Authorities in Winston-Salem are investigating an overnight shooting that left one man dead and another critically injured. The incident occurred early Saturday at an apartment on East 15th Street, prompting police to respond at approximately 12:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found 37-year-old Rashard Brooks inside the apartment, deceased from a fatal gunshot wound. A second man, who had been shot multiple times, was discovered outside the apartment. He was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations by the Winston-Salem Police Department indicate that the victims were engaged in a physical altercation with the suspect inside the apartment before the shootings occurred. Authorities have stated that the victims and the suspect were acquainted, but the suspect’s identity has not yet been determined.
