Keayland McKune Obituary, Death – A 14-year-old boy was identified on Monday as the victim of a fatal crash that occurred early Saturday morning in Fairdale. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victim, Keayland McKune, died from blunt force injuries sustained in the accident.

According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis, officers first noticed a vehicle with two occupants near the Jefferson County line around 3:50 a.m. on Saturday. The vehicle had been reported stolen, and when police attempted to pull it over, the driver accelerated rapidly, fleeing at a dangerous speed.

Although officers activated their emergency equipment, they did not pursue the vehicle, instead turning off their sirens and lights. However, a short time later, police noticed sparks coming from the direction the vehicle had been traveling. About half a mile down the road, they discovered an overturned vehicle in the 10300 block of National Turnpike in Fairdale.

The vehicle that crashed was believed to be the same one that had fled from the officers earlier. Tragically, Keayland McKune was found dead at the scene. A second teenager, who was in the vehicle, was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The identity of the driver remains unknown, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Louisville Metro Police Department’s Traffic Unit is handling the case.
