Jordan Proctor Obituary, Death – The individual fatally shot by deputies in Charles County last weekend has been identified as 30-year-old Jordan Proctor from White Plains, Maryland, according to authorities. The incident unfolded on Friday, December 20, in a residential neighborhood on Tottenham Drive.
The situation began around 3 p.m. when deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a kidnapping and sexual assault. The caller claimed to be a victim of these crimes, and the call was later traced back to Proctor’s cell phone.
When officers arrived at the scene, they observed a masked individual inside the residence. Despite multiple commands to surrender, the person refused to comply and moved toward an open garage. Authorities said the individual, later confirmed to be Proctor, made verbal threats, claimed he was armed, and assumed a shooting stance. In response, three deputies discharged their weapons, striking Proctor.
Proctor was immediately incapacitated by the gunfire and subsequently transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A subsequent search of the residence found no evidence of other individuals present, contradicting the claims made during the initial 911 call.
The entire incident was captured on the officers’ body-worn cameras, which recorded the interaction and the sequence of events leading to the shooting. As per Maryland state regulations, the deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is underway.
The case is being overseen by the Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. Additionally, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office of Professional Responsibility will conduct an internal administrative review of the deputies’ actions.
