Saverio Campagna Obituary, Death – A 98-year-old man, Saverio Campagna, was tragically killed in a fire that broke out early Saturday morning at his home on Jefferson Avenue in Canandaigua. Campagna was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire, which severely damaged the residence. Canandaigua Fire Chief Frank Magnera confirmed that the official cause of death will be determined by the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Campagna’s wife and daughter were also affected by the fire and were taken to FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua for treatment. Both are expected to recover from smoke inhalation, according to fire officials.

The fire was deemed accidental by authorities, although Chief Magnera stated that no further details about its origin or cause would be released at this time. Firefighters managed to locate and remove Campagna from the home, but despite their best efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead on-site.

The fire took a significant amount of time to bring under control, with firefighters working for about two hours to extinguish the flames. In the aftermath of the blaze, the home sustained extensive damage and is currently uninhabitable.

Officials are continuing to investigate the fire, but as of now, the community is left to mourn the loss of Campagna, while his family begins to recover from the emotional and physical toll of the event.
