Priscilla Gaiton Obituary, Death: Woman killed in crash following pursuit with BCSO deputies identified by ME’s office.

Priscilla Gaiton Obituary, Death – Priscilla Gaiton, a 43-year-old woman, was identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office as the individual who died following a crash that occurred after a law enforcement pursuit. Gaiton died from multiple blunt force injuries, and her death was ruled an accident.
The incident unfolded early on a Saturday morning after San Antonio police officers were dispatched to a shooting call on Woodlake Parkway at around 2 a.m. When police arrived, they found 25-year-old Jennifer Rodriguez inside a home with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being transported to a hospital, Rodriguez was pronounced dead.
At this time, the exact circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, as well as the identity of the shooter. The connection between Gaiton and Rodriguez, although acknowledged by authorities, has not been disclosed.
The situation escalated further when Gaiton’s vehicle fled the scene of the shooting. San Antonio police officers were alerted that Gaiton was being pursued by a deputy from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). The deputy, who was on patrol in east Bexar County, had heard gunshots and observed Gaiton driving at a high rate of speed. The deputy attempted to pull her over, but Gaiton refused to stop, initiating the chase.
Gaiton’s vehicle drove around a parking lot before reentering Walzem Road and speeding toward Interstate 35. However, as Gaiton approached the I-35 access road, she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a light pole. The collision caused significant damage to her car, ripping off the driver’s side door and ejecting Gaiton from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the crash site, BCSO deputies recovered an AK-style rifle with a live round in the chamber inside Gaiton’s car, as well as a fully loaded magazine found near the crash scene. Authorities later revealed that Gaiton’s 19-year-old passenger, identified as Ethan Gonzales, attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by deputies shortly after the crash. Gonzales was taken to a hospital for treatment, and while there, he tried to escape once again. He was tased and placed back in custody.
Gonzales is related to Gaiton, though the exact relationship has not been disclosed. There is also a connection between Gaiton and Rodriguez, but authorities have not elaborated on the nature of their relationship.
Following the incident, three BCSO deputies were placed on administrative leave. Although this case does not involve a deputy-involved shooting, the sheriff’s office is following its protocols due to the in-custody death of Gaiton. Sheriff Javier Salazar emphasized that he believes the deputies adhered to the department’s policies and procedures during the pursuit.
Gonzales is facing charges related to his attempts to flee. He has been charged with evading arrest on foot and escape from custody. He was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and has been given a bond of $20,000 for these charges. The San Antonio police have not yet disclosed whether Gonzales faces any charges related to the shooting of Rodriguez.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the events surrounding Gaiton’s death, while San Antonio police are leading the investigation into the shooting of Jennifer Rodriguez.
