Kerry Holmes; Officials: One dead in Aroostook County explosion Friday.
Kerry Holmes – A fatal explosion in Aroostook County on Friday claimed the life of a local man, according to officials. The incident occurred at 118 Aroostook Road in Molunkus, as reported by Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The victim was identified as 66-year-old Kerry Holmes, the owner of the property where the explosion took place. Investigators found that Holmes had been using a propane torch to thaw a frozen water tank on a commercial truck. Moss explained that at some point during the process, the flame of the torch went out, causing propane gas to accumulate around the tank. A second torch being used nearby is believed to have ignited the gas, resulting in the deadly blast.
Holmes was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are continuing their investigation to gather more details about the incident.
