The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) reported that Gonzalez-Perez was lying in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle, which then fled the scene.
The accident occurred shortly before midnight in the 14000 block of Indiantown Road, approximately 1.5 miles from Gonzalez-Perez’s residence. Deputies responded to reports of the collision and found Gonzalez-Perez’s body in the westbound lanes. According to PBSO, a vehicle traveling west struck the pedestrian and continued in the same direction without stopping.
Authorities have not provided details about the vehicle involved, and it remains unclear why Gonzalez-Perez was lying in the road at the time of the incident. PBSO is continuing its investigation and urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run to come forward.
