Jason Alexander Ramirez Obituary, Death: 19-year-old shot and killed near Los Angeles home after dropping sister at work, family says.
Jason Alexander Ramirez Obituary, Death – The family of a 19-year-old man who was tragically shot to death in Boyle Heights earlier this week has identified him as Jason Alexander Ramirez. According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the shooting took place around midnight on Wednesday in the 500 block of South Grande Vista Avenue, near Lanfranco Street. Ramirez, who was found inside his Kia Soul with gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers.
Although the police did not immediately release the victim’s identity, his family confirmed that the deceased was Jason Alexander Ramirez. His brother, Angel, spoke to KTLA and explained that Jason had just dropped his sister off at work and was only a few houses away from home when the fatal shooting occurred.
Angel shared that according to witness reports and surveillance footage, four teenage male suspects had been seen “lurking” near the area around the time Jason arrived. The suspects, he believes, were in search of a rival gang member and mistakenly identified Jason as one of their targets. In a tragic turn of events, the suspects plotted to kill him.
According to Angel, one of the suspects walked into the street, pretending to be in distress to make Jason stop his car. The other three suspects hid behind nearby vehicles, setting up an ambush. Angel said that Jason, who was unsuspecting and defenseless, was coldly attacked when he stopped, making him an easy target for the assailants.
Angel and the family believe that Jason’s death was a senseless act tied to a gang initiation, with Jason being in the wrong place at the wrong time. They emphasized that Jason was just trying to help someone he believed was in need, but instead, he became the victim of a violent act.
The LAPD has detained one of the four suspects, but as of Sunday afternoon, the other three remain at large. Law enforcement continues to investigate the case, but Angel is hopeful that someone will come forward with information to help bring justice to his family. He said that Jason was a person who embodied love and kindness, and that he would be remembered forever for his compassionate nature.
“Jason truly was a prime example of how one should love his fellow man,” Angel said. “His actions that night showed the love in his heart, and he will be remembered for an eternity.”
As the family continues to mourn, they are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Los Angeles Police Department. The tragedy has left a deep wound in the family, and they are desperate for answers and justice for Jason.
