34-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Lanett on Valentine’s Day

Jerome A. Jackson Obituary, Death – Lanett police are actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on the evening of February 14, leaving a 34-year-old man dead. According to authorities, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South 2nd Avenue at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Friday in response to reports of a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, they found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was later identified as Jerome A. Jackson, a resident of Valley. Emergency responders quickly transported him to East Alabama Medical Center’s Lanier campus in Valley, but despite medical efforts, Jackson was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Lanett police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. However, officials have not yet provided details on possible suspects or a motive. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to gather more information.
