Brenda Hawes Obituary, Death – A tragic head-on collision on Route 45 in Saybrook, Ohio, claimed the life of 52-year-old Brenda Hawes of Ashtabula early Wednesday morning. According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 7:55 a.m. near milepost 25.
Hawes was driving a 2015 black Chevrolet Equinox southbound on SR 45 when her vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a northbound garbage truck. Authorities reported that Hawes was pronounced dead at the scene, while the garbage truck’s driver escaped the crash uninjured.
The accident caused Route 45 to be closed for about two and a half hours as emergency responders worked to clear the scene and investigate the incident. Assistance was provided by the Saybrook Fire Department and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
