Anne Rasmussen Obituary, Death: Victim of deadly crash in Ocean County identified.

Anne Rasmussen Obituary, Death – Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer confirmed that the victim of the fatal crash in Brick Township on December 27, 2024, was identified as 58-year-old Anne Rasmussen from Whiting.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. when officers from the Brick Township Police Department were called to a report of a serious collision on Route 70, near the Lowe’s home improvement store. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a head-on collision had taken place between a Toyota Rav4 and a Volkswagen Beetle.

The driver of the Toyota, 53-year-old Jose Romero Quinteros from Howell, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders. He was then transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Unfortunately, Rasmussen, a passenger in the Toyota, was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation, conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, the Brick Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, revealed that the Toyota Rav4 had been traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Route 70. The vehicle was on the wrong side of the concrete barrier separating the two sides of the road when it collided head-on with the Volkswagen Beetle.

Romero Quinteros has been issued motor vehicle summonses for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Reckless Driving. The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.

Prosecutor Billhimer has urged anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Detective Joseph Mitchell of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027, extension 3532, or Officer David Thergesen of the Brick Township Police Department at 732-262-1100.

It’s important to note that the charges against Romero Quinteros are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
