Stephanie Anahi Obituary, Death: Richmond authorities identify teenage girl killed in car crash.
Stephanie Anahi Obituary, Death – A tragic car crash in Richmond claimed the life of 16-year-old Stephanie Anahi, as confirmed by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s division. Initially, the Richmond Police Department (RPD) reported the victim as 14 years old, but this was later corrected. Stephanie’s 11-year-old sister and two other minors were also in the car during the crash. The younger sister remains in critical condition at the hospital.
The accident occurred around 5:17 a.m. near the 600 block of Canal Boulevard. The car involved, an Infinity G35 coupe, had been reported stolen on October 12. It was speeding on northbound lanes before veering off the road, hitting two trees and a pole. Following the crash, two 15-year-old male occupants fled the scene. One was found at a hospital, and the other was located at his home in Richmond later that evening. Both admitted to being in the vehicle but denied driving or stealing it.
RPD stated that the occupants gave conflicting statements about who was driving at the time. Investigators are working with DNA evidence to identify the driver. No arrests have been made so far, but if one of the occupants is confirmed as the driver, they could face vehicular manslaughter charges.
