Sheri Lynn Schoenfield Obituary, Death – The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred on Saturday morning, December 14, as 62-year-old Sheri Lynn Schoenfield, a resident of Fowlerville. The tragic incident took place at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Elm Road, located between Holt and Van Orden in Leroy Township.
According to investigators, the collision happened after Schoenfield stopped her vehicle while traveling northbound on Elm Road to avoid hitting a deer that had crossed her path. After stopping her van, Schoenfield exited the vehicle to adjust some items that had shifted in the back of the van. It was during this time that she was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 44-year-old woman from Webberville, along with her daughter, was also traveling northbound on Elm Road when they tried to swerve to avoid hitting Schoenfield’s van. However, despite their attempt to avoid the collision, they ended up striking Schoenfield, who was standing outside the van.
Responding to the scene, Northern Ingham Emergency Services and a deputy from the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office immediately began performing CPR and other life-saving measures on Schoenfield. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead while being transported in an ambulance.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Schoenfield and her daughter were both taken to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening, and they were expected to recover from their ordeal.
The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office has reported that both Schoenfield and the driver of the oncoming vehicle may have been attempting evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision, but unfortunately, the crash still occurred. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
