According to police, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Stricklerstown Road and Rod and Gun Road in Millcreek Township. Investigators said the crash involved a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a motorcycle traveling in opposite directions.
Initial reports suggest that the SUV had been heading eastbound on Stricklerstown Road and was attempting to make a left turn onto Rod and Gun Road. As it turned, it was struck by a motorcycle traveling westbound on Stricklerstown Road.
The motorcyclist, who was severely injured in the crash, was later identified by the Berks County Coroner’s Office as 40-year-old Zachary Brooks of Robesonia. Emergency responders quickly transported Brooks to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Despite efforts to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the driver of the SUV, and no other injuries have been reported in the crash. Police have not said whether speed, distraction, or any form of impairment may have contributed to the accident.
