Xuewei He Obituary, Death: McLean driver dies in Arlington crash; charges pending, police say.
Xuewei He Obituary, Death – Authorities have released the name of a McLean woman who tragically died in a crash in Arlington on Monday, while the driver suspected of causing the accident remains in critical condition at a local hospital. On Tuesday afternoon, Arlington County police identified the deceased as 32-year-old Xuewei He, a resident of McLean. She was driving a sedan when the collision occurred, making a turn onto Wilson Boulevard from North Vermont Street. Her vehicle was struck by an eastbound pickup truck traveling at a high speed.
The force of the impact caused both the sedan and the pickup truck to crash into two other vehicles that were stopped at a red light at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and North Glebe Road. Authorities confirmed that He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead there. Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver, whose identity has not been released, is in critical but stable condition, and charges are pending against him.
In addition to the fatal crash, investigators found that the pickup truck driver had caused further collisions before reaching the fatal scene. The pickup first struck a vehicle at the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and North George Mason Drive, and then collided with a second eastbound vehicle on Wilson Boulevard. Further, two additional cars crashed at Wilson Boulevard and North Wakefield Street while trying to avoid the speeding pickup.
Despite these collisions, no injuries were reported from the additional incidents. Arlington police officers, who were westbound on Wilson Boulevard, had stopped at the traffic light at North George Mason Drive when they saw the pickup truck speed through the intersection into the wrong lanes. The officers made a U-turn to pursue the vehicle and investigate, but the fatal crash occurred before they reached the scene. It is important to note that according to police policy, the officers were not actively pursuing the vehicle when the crash occurred.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward and help with the case. Those with details can contact Detective K. Stahl at 703-228-7145 or via email at kstahl@arlingtonva.us. Information can also be reported anonymously through the Arlington County Crime Solvers hotline at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
