Matthew Burns Obituary, Death – A motorcyclist tragically lost his life in an accident on Cape Cod on Thursday afternoon, according to authorities. At approximately 4:45 p.m., a motorcycle was traveling north near 2309 Cranberry Highway in Wareham when witnesses reported that the rider lost control of the bike, veering into the southbound lane where he was subsequently struck by a Mercedes GLC300, as stated in a press release from the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office.

The motorcyclist, identified by law enforcement as 49-year-old Matthew Burns, was discovered unresponsive by Wareham police and Massachusetts State Police and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of the incident, Burns was riding with four other motorcyclists, one of whom suffered minor injuries due to the crash.

The driver of the Mercedes was also taken to the hospital and informed police that she was heading south on Cranberry Highway when she noticed several motorcycles approaching from the opposite direction. While navigating a curve in the highway, she reported that one of the motorcyclists lost control of his bike, making it impossible for her to avoid the collision.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and is being carried out by state police.
