Willard Henry Pohl Obituary, Death – A 74-year-old man from Inver Grove Heights tragically died on Saturday in a weather-related crash on icy roads, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The victim, identified as Willard Henry Pohl, was driving his Chevrolet pickup truck when the accident occurred. Pohl was traveling up the entrance ramp from Concord Boulevard to northbound U.S. 52 in Inver Grove Heights. At the top of the ramp, he lost control of his vehicle due to icy road conditions and crossed over into the northbound lanes of U.S. 52.

Pohl’s pickup collided with a Mazda CX-90, which was also traveling north on the highway. Following the crash, the Mazda came to a stop in the left lane, while Pohl’s vehicle came to a stop on the left shoulder of the road. The passengers in the Mazda were identified as a man, a woman, and four children, aged 17, 14, 12, and 6, from Spring Valley, Minnesota. Fortunately, none of the passengers in the Mazda sustained injuries in the collision.

The accident was part of a larger pattern of weather-related crashes throughout the day. Between midnight and 6 p.m. Saturday, the Minnesota State Patrol reported a total of 183 property damage crashes, 18 injury crashes, 54 vehicles going off the road, five spinouts, and four jackknifed semis due to the slippery, icy conditions. The state patrol posted the figures on social media, urging drivers to exercise caution in hazardous weather conditions.

The incident involving Pohl is under investigation, and authorities have yet to provide additional details about the crash.
