Timothy Cook Obituary, Death – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has identified the man who was fatally shot by a Memphis police officer as 35-year-old Timothy Cook. The shooting took place on the night of Friday, June 13, just one day after Cook’s birthday. According to officials, Cook succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Monday.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Park Avenue and Grand Street in Memphis. Authorities reported that officers from the Memphis Police Department approached a large group of people gathered in a business parking lot. As one of the officers stepped out of his patrol car, Cook allegedly drove his vehicle directly and aggressively at the officer, hitting him.
In response to this perceived threat, two other officers on the scene fired their weapons at Cook, striking him. Despite being shot, Cook continued to drive away from the officers, but he soon crashed his car into a bus stop nearby.
The officer who was struck by Cook’s vehicle reportedly sustained only minor injuries in the incident. The TBI is leading the investigation into the shooting, which remains ongoing.
