The crash resulted in the Jeep coming to rest in a ditch, while the Ford ended up on the north shoulder of the road. The driver of the Jeep, 48-year-old Terry J. Gurley from Cascade, Iowa, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The occupants of the Ford, 27-year-old Kyle L. Harland and 22-year-old Megann L. Post, both from Maquoketa, Iowa, managed to make their way to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to the Iowa State Patrol, their injuries were not life-threatening.
