The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. near the 11000 block of Foursquare Road, north of Tings Road. Police reported that 44-year-old Tariq Holloman was driving southbound on Foursquare Road when his vehicle crossed the double solid lines into oncoming traffic. Holloman’s car collided head-on with another vehicle.
Holloman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second car, identified as Amee Riste, sustained life-threatening injuries. She was airlifted to Norfolk Sentara Hospital for treatment.
Authorities have indicated that speed was a contributing factor in the crash. However, it remains unclear if alcohol played a role in the accident. Investigators are continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
