Sgt. Patrick Lynch reported that one vehicle, heading westbound on the expressway, unexpectedly crossed into the oncoming lane for reasons still unknown. This led to a direct head-on collision with a second vehicle traveling eastbound. The force of the impact was severe, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

The vehicle that had multiple occupants sustained extensive damage, and three individuals inside were immediately treated at the scene by emergency responders before being transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Meanwhile, the other car involved, which only had one person inside, took the brunt of the impact. The driver, later identified as Cynthia Medina, a 47-year-old resident of Beaumont, was trapped in her vehicle and could not be saved. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Following the collision, the Ramona Expressway was temporarily shut down between Sanderson Avenue and Warren Road as law enforcement officers and emergency crews responded to the scene. The closure allowed investigators and cleanup crews to safely manage the aftermath. By Wednesday, the road had been reopened to traffic.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office publicly identified the deceased victim as Cynthia Medina on Wednesday. Details about the identities and conditions of the three injured individuals have not yet been released.
