Steven M. Sandquist Obituary, Death: A tragic early-morning crash on Interstate 69 in Allen County resulted in the death of a 61-year-old Fort Wayne resident. The Allen County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim’s identity as Steven M. Sandquist, marking the county’s ninth motor vehicle fatality of the year.
Crash Details
Authorities responded to the single-vehicle crash around 2:50 a.m. on Monday. The incident occurred on northbound I-69 near the 313-mile marker, just past the Coldwater Road exit. Upon arrival, police discovered an unconscious man inside a vehicle that had collided with the median.
Emergency responders quickly transported Sandquist to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead.
Investigation and Cause of Death
On Tuesday, the coroner’s office ruled Sandquist’s death as accidental. Officials have not yet provided further details on the possible cause of the crash, such as whether speed, weather, or a medical emergency may have played a role.
As authorities continue their investigation, the community mourns yet another life lost on Allen County roads.
