Marcus Landry Obituary, Death; 18-wheeler driver ID’d in fatal I-49 crash; early findings revealed.

Marcus Landry Obituary, Death – Louisiana State Police have identified the driver who died in a fatal crash involving two 18-wheelers on Interstate 49 North in St. Landry Parish. The victim has been confirmed as 40-year-old Marcus Landry of Broussard.
According to state troopers, the collision happened on Wednesday, July 30, near the boundary between St. Landry and Evangeline parishes. Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that Landry was operating a 2015 Freightliner M2-160, heading north on I-49, when he failed to yield and crashed into the rear of another northbound 18-wheeler—a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia.
The impact of the crash was severe, and Landry was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The driver of the second truck was not injured in the collision.
Louisiana State Police reported that the surviving driver voluntarily submitted a breath sample, which tested negative for alcohol. Additionally, routine toxicology samples were taken from Marcus Landry as part of the ongoing investigation.
