Shaquan D. Petty Obituary, Death: 30-Year-Old Dies in Head-On Collision in Coles County
Shaquan D. Petty Obituary, Death – A fatal crash occurred in Coles County on Tuesday evening, resulting in the death of one person. The collision took place just after 6 p.m. on County Road 1000N, east of the intersection with County Road 1300E. The Coles County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident was a head-on collision, leading to the death of one of the drivers.
The driver who died was identified as 30-year-old Shaquan D. Petty from Greenville. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile passenger in Petty’s vehicle was treated at the site of the crash before being transported to HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. The child was later transferred to St. Louis Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
The other vehicle involved in the crash contained a senior couple from Oakland, ages 74 and 68. The woman had to be extricated from the car, and both individuals were taken by EMS to receive medical care.
County Road 1000N was closed for nearly five hours to allow for the investigation and cleanup. It was shut down at 6:15 p.m. and reopened around 11 p.m. The crash is under investigation by the Coles County Sheriff’s Office, the Coles County Coroner’s Office, and Illinois State Police.
