Ryan McBride Obituary, Death  – A 41-year-old man lost his life early Monday morning following a confrontation with a Shelby County sheriff’s deputy, according to a report from the Kentucky State Police (KSP).

The incident unfolded just after 1 a.m. on Blackwell Road, located north of Midland Trail. Deputies were dispatched to the 1800 block in response to a call regarding a domestic disturbance involving Ryan McBride, 41, and a woman whose age has not been disclosed.

When the responding deputy arrived on the scene, the situation quickly escalated. Authorities say McBride armed himself with a gun and fired at the deputy. The bullet reportedly struck a piece of the deputy’s equipment but did not cause serious injury.

In response, the deputy returned fire, striking McBride. The shot proved fatal, and McBride was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the exchange, the injured deputy was transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, he was treated and later released.

Kentucky State Police has taken over the investigation into the shooting, which is standard procedure when an officer-involved shooting occurs. As of now, officials have not released additional details regarding the domestic incident that prompted the original 911 call or the events leading up to the exchange of gunfire.

The investigation remains ongoing.
