Rosemary Franzidis Obituary, Death – The family of a 69-year-old grandmother, Rosemary Franzidis, who tragically lost her life in a crash involving an allegedly stolen car near Brisbane, has paid heartfelt tribute to her. Ms. Franzidis was killed when her vehicle was struck by a stolen car driven by a 16-year-old boy on Dohles Rocks Road in Murrumba Downs, around 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

Ms. Franzidis was behind the wheel of her sedan when the stolen car, which had been hijacked just moments before, collided with her vehicle and a stationary police car in the Griffin area. According to Queensland Police, the teenager had hijacked a car at gunpoint from another woman before the crash occurred. Authorities had set up patrols and cordons across the Moreton Bay region to locate the stolen Audi involved in the incident.

Sadly, Ms. Franzidis was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, two police officers were hospitalized for treatment after the crash.

In a statement, Ms. Franzidis’ family expressed their deep sorrow and shared their memories of the woman they described as “much-loved.” They fondly remembered her as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who placed immense value on her family. “Rosemary Franzidis was a much-loved wife, mother, and grandmother, who cherished her family more than anything in the world,” the statement read.

The family went on to describe Ms. Franzidis as a woman of strong faith, with many church friends who will remember her fondly. “Everybody who met Rose felt her love, kindness, and generosity,” they said. They also mentioned that she would be greatly missed by friends and family not only in Australia but also in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the USA.

Ms. Franzidis is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, three daughters, and three grandchildren. In light of their grief, her family has requested privacy during this difficult time.

The 16-year-old driver involved in the fatal crash has been charged with manslaughter and is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Children’s Court on December 12.
