Phoenix police officers were called to the area near 32nd Avenue and Indian School Road around 7:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a fight that had escalated into a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 30-year-old Ronnie Roper suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, but Roper succumbed to his injuries.
Following an investigation, authorities identified 51-year-old Vincent Frago as the primary suspect. He was located and taken into custody on Tuesday. During a post-Miranda interview, Frago provided information that led investigators to charge him. He was subsequently booked into a Maricopa County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
The Phoenix Police Department has not disclosed further details about the incident, including the motive or circumstances surrounding the altercation. Investigators continue to gather information to piece together what led to the fatal encounter.
