Rodney Robinson Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the man who passed away inside Louisville Metro Corrections on Wednesday night. The Jefferson County Coroner confirmed the deceased inmate as 60-year-old Rodney Robinson, who had been in custody for approximately 24 hours before his death.
Discovery and Emergency Response
According to Metro Corrections Major Jason Logsdon, corrections officers discovered Robinson unresponsive in one of the facility’s housing units around 11:15 p.m. Upon finding him, officers immediately began life-saving efforts until emergency medical services (EMS) arrived. Despite their attempts to revive him, Robinson was pronounced dead approximately 15 minutes later.
Investigation Underway
As per standard procedure, an internal investigation is being conducted by the Metro Corrections Professional Standards Unit. Additionally, the Louisville Metro Police Public Integrity Unit is also looking into the circumstances surrounding Robinson’s death. Officials have not yet determined the cause.
Response from Authorities
Metro Corrections Chief Jerry Collins expressed condolences to Robinson’s family and acknowledged the impact of the incident. He also noted that mental health services have been made available to inmates who may be affected by the death.
“Our condolences are with the family, as we at LMDC are saddened by this loss of life,” Collins said in a statement.
As the investigation continues, officials will work to determine the cause of Robinson’s death and whether any further action is needed.
