Rachel Vanderpool Obituary, Death – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman who was fatally struck by a vehicle in Fresno on Tuesday night as 41-year-old Rachel Vanderpool, a local resident.
The incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Third Street. Fresno police responded to reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision. Initial findings from the investigation indicated that Vanderpool had stepped off the center median into the eastbound lanes of traffic, just as an approaching vehicle was nearing the area.
The driver of the vehicle was unable to stop in time and struck Vanderpool. Emergency responders transported her to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead from her injuries. The driver remained at the scene after the crash, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
