Puneet Singh Sohi, Dr. Premjeet Brar Obituary, Death: 2 of 3 victims in Yuba County crash ID’d as Roseville parents

Puneet Singh Sohi, Dr. Premjeet Brar Obituary, Death – Two of the three people killed in a devastating head-on collision in Yuba County on Friday have been identified as Roseville residents Puneet Singh Sohi and Dr. Premjeet Brar. The fatal crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Highway 70, just north of Boyer Road, approximately eight miles from Marysville.

Sohi and Brar, who were married and parents of two young children, were traveling in a Honda CR-V when their vehicle was struck head-on by a Toyota Camry. The couple’s two children — a 4-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl — were also in the SUV at the time of the crash. Authorities confirmed that one of the children succumbed to their injuries, though as of Tuesday morning, it was not clear which child had died. Efforts are ongoing to clarify that information.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Office officially identified Sohi, while Brar was identified by the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. Community members and media outlets have connected Dr. Premjeet Brar to a pediatric dental practice in Roseville. A photo on the Rockville Smiles website shows Brar, who is also believed to be Veenu Brar Sohi, an active participant in the Rocklin Academy Gateway parent-school partnership.

A GoFundMe campaign created in support of the Sohi family has described the deceased couple as dedicated parents and professionals. The fundraiser, which has raised nearly \$370,000 of its \$1 million goal, notes that Puneet Sohi was an I.T. engineer with a passion for the traditional Punjabi dance, bhangra. Dr. Brar was remembered for her work in pediatric dentistry and involvement in the community.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred when an 18-year-old man from Brentwood, driving a Toyota Camry southbound on Highway 70, lost control of his vehicle. The Camry crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the Honda CR-V head-on. Emergency responders found both vehicles with severe front-end damage upon arrival.

Puneet Sohi, who was driving the CR-V, died at the scene. Dr. Brar, seated as a passenger, was transported to Enloe Medical Center in Chico, where she later died from her injuries. Their two children were taken to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

The 18-year-old male driver of the Toyota Camry and his passenger, an 18-year-old woman also from Brentwood, sustained serious injuries and were taken to Adventist Health and Rideout Hospital. Authorities have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash, and the incident remains under investigation.

Due to the severity of the collision, Highway 70 was closed between Boyer Road and Ramirez Road for approximately two and a half hours while emergency crews cleared the scene and investigators examined the wreckage.

The crash has left the Roseville community mourning the loss of a family deeply involved in local education and health services, as loved ones rally to support the surviving child.
