Preston Papalia Obituary, Death – A shooting on New Year’s Day outside a home on Curtis Street in Rochester has been deemed the city’s first homicide of 2025. Police received a call about a shooting around 1:45 a.m. and arrived to find 23-year-old Preston Papalia from Rochester lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite efforts to save him, Papalia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have identified the individuals involved in the altercation that led to the shooting. The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office will review the case and present the findings to a grand jury, which will determine whether any charges will be filed. No arrests have been made as of now, and the investigation is ongoing.
