Paul Body Obituary, Death Cause – The man who was fatally shot in Dayton on Tuesday night, an incident that prompted a response from the SWAT team, has been identified. According to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, the victim was 42-year-old Paul Body.
The shooting occurred just before 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Main Street and Ernst Avenue. Dayton police officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a person being shot. Upon arrival, officers found Body suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dayton Police Lieutenant Eric Sheldon confirmed that the victim had already succumbed to his injuries by the time officers arrived.
As part of the investigation, police received information suggesting that a possible suspect involved in the shooting might be located in a home in the 2400 block of North Main Street. This prompted the deployment of the SWAT unit along with the Hostage Negotiation Team.
Officers thoroughly searched the home, but ultimately determined that the suspect was not inside, according to Lt. Sheldon.
The case remains under active investigation by Dayton’s homicide detectives, who are working to gather more information, identify a suspect, and determine the motive behind the shooting. Authorities have not yet released details regarding any leads or persons of interest.
