Patrick McCarthy Death, Obituary News – On March 11, just after midnight, a fatal hit-and-run occurred on South Circle Avenue in Colorado Springs. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Patrick McCarthy, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
Investigators determined that McCarthy was struck by a vehicle traveling at high speed. Instead of stopping to provide aid, the driver fled the scene. Police later identified the suspect as 30-year-old Dominic Rodriguez, who was located near East Pikes Peak Avenue.
During his arrest, Rodriguez allegedly attempted to use a child who was with him in the vehicle as a “human shield.” Authorities safely removed the child from the situation before taking Rodriguez into custody.
In addition to the hit-and-run, police discovered that Rodriguez had an outstanding felony warrant at the time of his arrest. He now faces multiple charges, including hit-and-run involving death, vehicular homicide due to reckless driving, child abuse (non-injury), and reckless endangerment.
The investigation remains ongoing.
