Nyla Holland Obituary, Death – A University of Florida student lost her life in a tragic accident involving a moped and a car over the weekend.

University officials confirmed that Nyla Holland, a student in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, died on Sunday. Holland was attending UF on a U.S. Army ROTC Scholarship and had dreams of becoming an Army officer after graduation.

Friends of the victim reported that the crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. along Hull Road on campus. Holland was leaving the Southwest Recreational Gym on her moped when she was struck by a vehicle.

The Gainesville Police Department is investigating the crash, but they have not yet released any details despite multiple inquiries from local news station TV20.

On Monday morning, Holland’s friends, who wished to remain anonymous, placed flowers at the scene to honor her memory.

A UF spokesperson expressed condolences, stating, “Our hearts are with Nyla’s family and loved ones during this difficult and painful time.” The university also emphasized its commitment to campus safety.

To support students affected by Holland’s passing, UF is offering counseling services through U Matter, We Care and the Counseling Wellness Center.
