Norma Clements Obituary, Death: Centerville woman dies from injuries after St. Mary Parish crash

Norma Clements Obituary, Death – On the morning of June 13, 2025, shortly before 10:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a serious two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 90 near the intersection with Louisiana Highway 182. The accident resulted in the death of 86-year-old Norma Clements, a resident of Centerville.

According to the initial findings, Clements was driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue and had come to a stop on LA Highway 182, where a stop sign controls traffic at the intersection with U.S. Highway 90. At the same time, a 2022 Ford F600 Super Duty truck towing a trailer was heading westbound on U.S. Highway 90. As Clements attempted to cross the highway from LA 182 and continue south, her vehicle entered the path of the oncoming truck.

Despite the Ford driver’s attempt to avoid the crash, the truck struck the driver’s side of the Nissan. The impact caused significant damage to Clements’ vehicle.

Clements was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash but suffered severe injuries in the collision. She was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, but unfortunately, she later died from her injuries. The driver of the Ford truck was not injured in the accident.

Authorities do not suspect impairment played a role in the crash. The Ford driver voluntarily submitted to a breath test, which indicated no presence of alcohol. As part of standard procedure in fatal crashes, a toxicology sample was also collected from Clements and has been submitted for laboratory analysis.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and officials have not yet determined why Clements proceeded into the intersection at the time she did. Investigators will continue examining all contributing factors, including road conditions, visibility, and the timing of vehicle movements.

The tragic incident highlights the dangers associated with highway intersections, particularly when vehicles must cross high-speed roads. Although both drivers appeared to be following safety protocols—Clements was properly restrained, and there were no signs of impairment—the outcome still proved fatal due to the timing and location of the crash.

Authorities remind all drivers to remain alert at intersections, especially where cross traffic may be traveling at high speeds. Even a momentary misjudgment can result in devastating consequences.

The Louisiana State Police urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. More details may be released as the investigation progresses.
