The driver tried to avoid the pedestrian by swerving to the left, but unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time or space to prevent a collision. The front passenger side of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, and the impact caused the pedestrian’s head to hit the base of the vehicle’s windshield.
The pedestrian, later identified as 23-year-old Mikel Mouaddeb, came to rest in the eastbound left turn lane following the impact. The scene was immediately secured by authorities, and emergency services were notified.
After the incident, the driver of the vehicle made a U-turn and returned to the location of the crash. The driver then called 911 to report the accident and remained on-site as law enforcement and emergency personnel arrived.
