The woman, identified as Michelle Hampton, 37, was discovered in an alley on Greer Avenue in the Kingsway East neighborhood, just after 11 a.m. on November 20. Authorities have confirmed that Hampton was kidnapped earlier that day in Clayton, a neighboring city.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), officers were called to the scene after a report of a woman found deceased in an alley on the 4700 block of Greer Avenue, located near Marcus. When police arrived, they found Hampton’s body, and it was later confirmed that she had died from gunshot wounds.
The investigation quickly revealed that the 37-year-old woman had been abducted early Wednesday morning in Clayton, which is about a 15-minute drive from where her body was found. Fearing for their safety, the relatives halted their pursuit and contacted Clayton police, reporting the abduction.
It was later confirmed that Hampton had been forced into the truck by the suspect, who made her drive from Clayton to St. Louis. At some point during the drive, Hampton was killed, and her body was discarded in the alley on Greer Avenue.
The SLMPD’s Homicide Division has taken over the investigation, with Clayton Police providing assistance. Authorities have not yet released detailed information about the suspect, but they are actively working to identify the individual responsible for the kidnapping and subsequent murder.
