Deputies were called to the scene around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, following reports of a possible shooting on Furman Hall Road. When they arrived, they discovered a man lying in the roadway outside Boulder Creek Apartments, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was later identified as 40-year-old Michael Maurice Freeman. An autopsy confirmed that Freeman died from the gunshot injury, and his death has been officially classified as a homicide.
Although no arrests have been made at this time, investigators believe the incident was not random but rather an isolated act of violence. They continue to pursue leads and gather evidence to determine the circumstances leading to Freeman’s death.
