Authorities confirmed that Michael Eugene White, Jr., 29, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
Jasper County Coroner Jeremiah Vaigneur provided the official confirmation of White’s passing on March 27. The accident took place around 8:05 p.m. on Bees Creek Road, near the intersection of Crab Apple Lane. The location is approximately 3.8 miles north of Ridgeland.
According to SCHP Lance Corporal Brittany Glover, White had been driving a 2010 Dodge Challenger in the northbound lane of Bees Creek Road. For reasons yet to be determined, his vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway. The car first struck a ditch before colliding with a tree, leading to the fatal outcome.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but White had already succumbed to his injuries. Officials have not released details on whether weather conditions, speed, or other external factors played a role in the crash.
