Melvin Jones Obituary, Death – Delaware State Police have identified the 84-year-old man who died in a collision Tuesday morning in Christiana. Authorities confirmed that Melvin Jones, a resident of the Newark area, was fatally injured while attempting to turn into University Plaza.

Crash Details

According to police reports, the accident occurred around 6:20 a.m. on Christiana Road. Jones had stopped his vehicle in the westbound left turn lane, preparing to turn into University Plaza. When he attempted the turn, his vehicle crossed into the path of an oncoming 2018 Honda Pilot traveling eastbound.

The resulting collision left Jones with critical injuries. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Other Occupants Sustain Injuries

The driver of the Honda Pilot, a 46-year-old woman from Elkton, Maryland, was also taken to the hospital. Fortunately, her injuries were non-life-threatening. Two young passengers in her vehicle, ages 8 and 15, were also hospitalized but did not suffer serious harm.

Police Seek Witnesses
