Matthew Jeffrey Westhoff-Strode Obituary, Death – A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred Monday morning just north of Pittsburg, Kansas, resulting in the death of a man from Girard.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection of Highway 69 and Highway 160. The victim, 21-year-old Matthew Jeffrey Westhoff-Strode, was driving eastbound through the intersection when his vehicle was struck by a pickup truck.
The pickup was being driven by a 16-year-old boy who reportedly failed to stop at a red light, leading to the crash. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Westhoff-Strode was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
The teenage driver was not injured in the collision. Authorities have not yet stated whether charges will be filed, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
