Martin Soria Obituary, Death Cause: Officials name driver killed in Aston Martin crash during Boyle Heights pursuit

Martin Soria Obituary, Death Cause – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the driver who tragically lost his life following a high-speed chase that ended in a crash in Boyle Heights on Friday morning. The man, driving a rented silver Aston Martin sports car, collided with a light pole at around 3 a.m., marking the end of the pursuit.

The deceased driver has been identified as 30-year-old Martin Soria. After the crash, Soria attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers. However, while being taken into custody, he lost consciousness and later died at the scene.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the pursuit concluded when Soria’s vehicle struck the pole. Following the collision, Soria tried to run away but was tackled by officers with minimal force. Despite this, as emergency responders arrived, he showed signs of distress including vomiting and loss of consciousness.

The Aston Martin involved in the crash was rented from a luxury car rental service. The car’s owner, Juan Orozco, spoke about his interactions with Soria during the rental period. Orozco described Soria as a relaxed and responsible renter who communicated consistently. “He seemed super chill. I was talking to him throughout the whole rental period. He was messaging me, washing the vehicle, saying he was going to take good care of it,” Orozco said.

Orozco also mentioned that Soria had been extending the rental several times, initially booking it for a short period but eventually extending it day by day. Although Soria hoped to rent the car for a month, he had secured it for an additional eight days before the incident.

The CHP reported that Soria experienced a “medical emergency” during the pursuit and after the crash, which was later understood to be a cardiac arrest. CHP Sergeant Dan Keene provided some details about the apprehension, noting that only a small amount of force was used to subdue the driver. Keene said, “When the fire department arrived on scene, the driver started to show signs of distress and started to vomit. It is unknown if he ingested anything or if impairment is a factor.”

Despite the rapid response and efforts by emergency personnel to revive Soria, he unfortunately died at the crash site. The exact cause of his death is still under investigation as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the pursuit, crash, and medical emergency.

The incident has raised questions regarding what might have triggered the high-speed chase and the sudden medical crisis that led to Soria’s death. Officials are looking into whether drugs or alcohol played any role, but no clear evidence has been confirmed yet. The investigation remains ongoing as CHP and other agencies piece together the events leading up to the fatal crash.

This tragic event serves as a reminder of the dangers involved in high-speed pursuits and the unpredictable nature of medical emergencies during such incidents. The loss of Martin Soria is a somber outcome of what began as a routine rental but ended in a fatal collision and emergency response.
