Martel Gibson, Shundra Chestnut Obituary, Death – A tragic shooting at a trail ride in Holmes County, Mississippi, claimed the lives of three people and left eight others injured. The incident took place around midnight on Saturday along Highway 17 North, as reported by CBS affiliate WJTV.
Holmes County Sheriff Willie March explained that the trail ride followed the homecoming event for Holmes County Consolidated Schools. An argument between several young men escalated into the shooting. Authorities are currently searching for the suspects involved.
The victims were identified as 25-year-old Martel Gibson from Durant, 19-year-old Shundra Chestnut from Kosciusko, and 19-year-old John Jenkins, also from Durant. Holmes County is situated roughly 70 miles north of Jackson, Mississippi’s capital.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation. CBS News confirmed that no further updates will be available until Monday.
