Mark Michaud Obituary, Death – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer early Friday morning on an Interstate 95 off-ramp in Fairfield, Maine.
According to Lt. Aaron Turcotte, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Safety, the incident occurred at approximately 3:37 a.m. near Exit 132. State police responded to the scene after receiving a report of the collision. Investigators identified the victim as 49-year-old Mark Michaud of Fairfield. Michaud was attempting to cross the I-95 off-ramp when he was hit by a tractor-trailer operated by a 19-year-old driver from Milford.
The off-ramp was temporarily closed as state police and an accident reconstruction team worked to investigate the scene. Additionally, the state police commercial motor vehicle unit conducted a thorough inspection of the tractor-trailer involved in the incident.
The exit ramp has since reopened, but the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances leading to the accident.
