Manuel Rodriguez Chavez Obituary, Death: 64-Year-Old Hit-and-Run Victim on E. Brundage Lane Identified by Coroner

Manuel Rodriguez Chavez Obituary, Death – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a man who was killed after being hit by a hit-and-run vehicle on East Brundage Lane as 64-year-old Manuel Rodriguez Chavez. The Bakersfield Police Department reported that on May 31, 2025, at approximately 10:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of E. Brundage Lane to investigate a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered the pedestrian, identified as Chavez, lying in the roadway with severe injuries. Medical personnel arrived shortly thereafter and declared him deceased at the scene.
According to police, an initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Brundage Lane.
The driver fled the scene in the vehicle involved in the incident. The Bakersfield Police Department has stated that it remains unclear whether speed or impairment were contributing factors in the collision.
