Leslie Karel Obituary, Death – Late Saturday night in Richland, a pedestrian tragically lost his life after being hit by a vehicle driven by a man suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The incident occurred shortly before midnight near the Safeway shopping center on George Washington Way.

Emergency crews from Richland Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene and found that the pedestrian, a 66-year-old man, had died from his injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver, a 40-year-old man, is believed by investigators to have been impaired at the time of the collision. Authorities have charged him with vehicular homicide and booked him into the Benton County Jail.
