LaTavion Johnson Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting during Tuskegee University’s Homecoming weekend as 18-year-old La’Tavion Johnson from Troy, Alabama, according to Macon County Coroner Hal Bentley. Another victim, a female, remains in critical condition.

The incident, which occurred during a large gathering near the West Residence Halls on Luther Foster Drive, cast a shadow over the school’s 100th homecoming celebration, which had drawn thousands of alumni and their families.

Police detained 25-year-old Jaquez Myrick of Montgomery as he was leaving the scene. Myrick was allegedly found with a handgun modified with a machine gun conversion device and faces federal charges for Possession of a Machine Gun.

Tuskegee University has canceled classes on Monday, November 11, and will offer grief counseling at the campus chapel.

The investigation involves multiple agencies, including the Tuskegee University Police Department, Tuskegee Police Department, Macon County Sheriff’s Office, FBI Mobile Office, ATF, the Fifth Judicial Circuit, and the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.
