Kyle Debevec Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified a 26-year-old man who succumbed to injuries sustained in a severe single-vehicle crash over the weekend. The Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Kyle Debevec of Gurnee died as a result of blunt force injuries, which were consistent with the impact of a vehicle collision.
The tragic accident occurred around 2:05 a.m. Saturday near Stearns School Road and Mill Creek Drive in unincorporated Gurnee. According to law enforcement officials, a Mercedes-Benz veered off the south side of the road and crashed into a tree. The force of the impact caused extensive damage to the vehicle, leaving the driver trapped inside.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered the wrecked sedan and worked alongside emergency responders to free Debevec from the vehicle. He was then transported to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit with critical, life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, Debevec was pronounced dead hours later.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team is actively investigating the incident. No further details have been released at this time.
