Krysta Tsukahara, Soren Dixon Obituary, Death: 3 victims named in fatal Piedmont crash

Krysta Tsukahara, Soren Dixon Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified three victims killed in a fiery crash in Piedmont, California, early Wednesday morning. The tragic accident involved a Tesla Cybertruck, and the names of the victims were confirmed as Soren Dixon, Jack Nelson, and Krysta Tsukahara. The only survivor of the crash, 20-year-old Jordan Miller, was critically injured. Miller, a business student at the University of Wisconsin, was one of the four people in the vehicle. All four had graduated from Piedmont High School the previous year.

The crash occurred around 3:10 a.m. Wednesday as the group was returning from a social gathering. The surviving victim, Jordan Miller, was rescued by someone who had been at the same function but was driving a separate car. Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers confirmed that speed was likely a factor in the crash, but investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, the Tesla Cybertruck was fully engulfed in flames. Despite the efforts of responding officers who attempted to use fire extinguishers to control the fire, it was the Piedmont Fire Department that quickly extinguished the flames. Fire Chief Dave Brannigan indicated that the speed at which the fire was put out suggests that the Cybertruck’s lithium-ion battery did not catch fire, and the blaze seemed more consistent with a typical car fire.

Piedmont police have yet to disclose further details about the gathering the occupants had attended before the crash. While Tesla’s Cybertruck has been in the spotlight due to recent recalls, there is no indication that mechanical issues played a significant role in the crash. The most recent recall for the Cybertruck was on November 5, regarding an inverter issue that could cause the drive wheels to lose power. Other recalls for the vehicle have addressed issues such as windshield wiper failure, rearview camera delays, and problems with gas pedals getting stuck. However, investigators have stated that they do not suspect these issues contributed to the accident.

The crash has raised concerns within the Piedmont community, where the victims, all graduates of Piedmont High School, were well known. Dixon, one of the victims, was confirmed to be a student at USC, further adding to the tragedy as the news of his death spread. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, with authorities working to determine all the factors that led to the fatal collision.
