Kimberley Jean Jespersen Obituary, Death; Hit-and-run victim identified as police search for two drivers in Murray

Kimberley Jean Jespersen Obituary, Death – A woman struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident in Murray has been identified, while authorities continue their search for the drivers involved. According to the Murray Police Department, the pedestrian has been identified as 53-year-old Kimberley Jean Jespersen. The incident happened last Thursday night around 11 p.m. at the intersection of 4500 South and State Street.
Police say Jespersen was attempting to cross 4500 South from the southeast corner, using the crosswalk, when she was first hit by a dark-colored hatchback car. That vehicle was making a turn to head east on 4500 South.
Following the initial collision, it appeared that Jespersen was able to stand and was positioned next to the driver’s side window of the hatchback, which had come to a stop in the eastbound lanes. As the traffic light turned green, a second vehicle—a dark-colored truck—came through the intersection heading eastbound.
In an apparent effort to avoid crashing into the hatchback, the truck swerved, striking Jespersen. The impact caused critical injuries. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
Police say that after the collision, both the hatchback and the truck left the scene traveling east on 4500 South, failing to stop and render aid. Investigators are actively trying to locate both vehicles.
Authorities believe the truck likely sustained damage on its front passenger side as a result of the impact.
Murray police are now appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the drivers of the vehicles involved. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have surveillance footage from that area around the time of the crash to contact them.
Tipsters are encouraged to call 801-840-4000 and reference case number MR2025-23474.
